Supporting Children and Adults with Vision and Hearing Loss or Impairment features a range of events by SensesWA & DeafBlind West Australians (DBWA) in Busselton and Margaret River from 18 – 21 March 2025.
Join us for the opportunity to learn and connect with SensesWA’s leading Deafblind Services Team, local health professionals, educators, and people with lived experience, to improve the quality of life of children and adults who experience vision and hearing loss or impairment, also referred to as deafblindness.
About vision and hearing loss and deafblindness
Vision and hearing loss or impairment and deafblindness affects a person’s ability to access information, communicate and socialise. If not detected early, it can affect a person’s ability to move around independently, perform daily tasks and general confidence. By improving your understanding, you’ll enhance a person’s independence and quality of life.
What you’ll learn
Join as we share best practice information and resources to help you:
- Understand the spectrum of hearing and vision loss across all age groups
- Learn about alternative communication methods, including Key Word Sign
- Understand ways to support someone with vision and / or hearing loss or impairment
- Access school-based resources to better support children and improve learning outcomes
- Connect and network with members of the DeafBlind Community

- People who have vision and / or hearing loss or impairment
- Health professionals and aged care workers e.g. nurses and allied health practitioners
- Educators e.g. teachers and education assistants
